On Monday, we will gather to commemorate All Souls’ Day, remembering our own loved ones and all the faithful departed. During the service, the names of those we love will be read aloud individually as part of our prayers. If you would like someone to be remembered, please add their name(s) to the sheet at the back of church. There is space for anyone you would like us to remember, whether recently departed or someone whose memory you continue to hold close.
Merciful and loving Father, we remember now in prayer our dearly departed. May they rest in peace with you and experience the eternal joy of heaven. As we renew our faith in your Son, whom you raised from the dead, your power brings us to birth, your providence guides our lives and by your command we return to dust.
Lord, those who die still live in your presence, their lives change but do not end. In company with Christ, who died and now lives, may they rejoice in your kingdom, where all our tears are wiped away. Unite us together again in one family, to sing your praise forever and ever. Heal our grief, merciful Lord, strengthen our hope that we too, will one day share in the resurrection of your Son who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen
Remembrance Sunday: Our services next Sunday will take place as usual and at their normal times. In addition to our 10.45am service, the town will gather at the Cenotaph for the traditional act of remembrance, honouring all those who have served in the Armed Forces and remembering those who have given their lives in the service of our country. You are most welcome to join the town’s gathering.
Christmas Draw Raffle Tickets: Raffle tickets are now available and we’re hoping everyone will help us spread the word by selling just five books of tickets each at £1 per ticket. Every ticket sold will help! If you’re on the Electoral Roll, you’ll find an envelope of tickets waiting for you. If you’re not, don’t worry – just have a word with Ruth, who will be very happy to provide you with some.
We’re also putting together a luxury hamper, so if you’re able to donate any goodies, bottles, chocolates or other treats, they would be very gratefully received. Please leave any donations in the Vicar’s Vestry. Thank you, as always, for your generosity and support. It’s another lovely opportunity for us to come together as a church family and make something special happen.
Prayers: Please pray for Alan Whiteside, Joan, Paul Meekins, Sandra Pratt, Berny, Harvey Stansfield, Martin Keighley, Paul Sumner, Christopher, Linzi Howard, Ronnie and Chris Rimmer.
